The fixture map now has consequences
UEFA has confirmed a 51-match tournament running from 9 June to 9 July 2028 across England, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The opening match is in Cardiff, while both semi-finals and the final are at Wembley in London.
That turns the early host-city list into something supporters can plan around. London has two venues with separate transport networks; the other host cities each have one. A hotel labelled simply as ‘London’ can therefore be convenient for one match and awkward for another.
A team-following route still has to wait
The venue schedule identifies match slots, not the teams occupying them. Until qualification and the final draw connect a team to those slots, a team-following itinerary remains provisional.
The sensible early move is to compare arrival gateways, flexible accommodation and city pairings without locking every reservation. Cardiff, Birmingham and London may support a rail-led sequence; Dublin and Glasgow introduce different flight, ferry and transfer decisions.
London changes the booking calculation
Wembley and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sit on different sides of a large city. The relevant question is not only the distance to central London, but whether a hotel is connected to the correct stadium line and to the airport or station used on arrival.
A good EURO 2028 base keeps the matchday journey simple and protects the following travel day. That usually matters more than choosing the lowest room price on the map.
